Older Women’s Discussion Group

Meets the first Monday of each month from 2 to 4pm

The Blue Mountains Women’s Health and Resource Centre is about to start a discussion group for older women. “Bee” Beeby, the facilitator of the group said “We are planning to provide a group with a difference! I am hoping that the conversations will be funny, enlightening and stimulating – and most importantly, relevant.

“Women often want to meet with other women who are going through similar things as themselves. It could be around parenting or grandparenting, menopause, relationships – whatever is happening in the lives of the participants.  Things change as we get older, and sometimes we want to be able to share ideas or information, or just talk about what matters to us.  Sometimes women find that after they retire they lose their social connections. Others may be having a great time in their lives but may want to talk with similar women about how they go forward and make the most of the years ahead.

“Discussions may be practical or opportunities to share information.  They could be about the state of modern politics, or discussing an article they’ve just read.  It could be based on set topics or have a looser format.  I will be very much guided by the group in what they want to discuss. My job is to make sure that the conversation keeps going, the ideas are flowing and that everyone has their say.”

The group will meet monthly on Monday afternoons 2-4pm on the first Monday of the month at the Centre at 124 Lurline Street Katoomba.

Bookings are essential. Ph 4782 5133.
