The Blue Mountains Reclaim the Night March is an initiative of the Blue Mountains Coalition Against Violence and Abuse. Reclaim the night is a global protest for a women’s right to be free from sexual violence. The first rally was held in Belgium in 1976 by women attending the International Tribunal on Crimes Against Women. They marched and held candles to protest the ways violence permeates the lives of women globally. Australia’s first rally was in 1978 and continues as an annual event, demanding an acceptable response to violence against women in our community and worldwide. We continue to march to show a united front against violence of all kinds. Please save the date and attend the March. We also invite you to get involved in other ways for example; getting a community group together to attend, making banners, poster or other art, offering to play music or any other way you'd like to be part of the action!
